Stop Losing, Start Winning in Texas Holdem

Anyone who plays texas holdem doesn’t play to lose. However, many Texas holdem players find themselves with a negative bankroll within a short period of time. Especially, as a new comer to the game. Although you won’t become Daniel Negreanu overnight, there are some things that you can do to turn your game around immediately.

First: Stop playing every Ace you get…in another words stop playing so many hands! It’s ok to splash around every now and then, but trying to hit lightning in a bottle every time the dealer deals cards is a bad idea. More importantly it is a losing one.

Second: Stop chasing every draw to the river! Most importantly, make sure you calculate the proper pot odds if you are going to chase and fold if the odds aren’t in your favor in relation to the pot.

Third: Pay attention to the betting habits of other players on your table. You will be amazed how much your texas holdem bank roll will increase by logging what hands your opponents play, how much they bet with those hands, and in what position they play hands. By doing this you will find yourself calling some players that you wouldn’t others, raising some that you wouldn’t others, etc.

Fourth: Know when to say when! This isn’t the last game your going to ever play…so save it for another day. Playing while drinking is never suggested, however, playing too long can have the same losing effects. How about when you take a horrible beat form super donkey chasing that inside straight draw and hits, and you can’t get it out of your head. You might want to come back tomorrow.

The card game of texas holdem is certainly fun to play, but it is always more fun when you win. Incorporate these key steps for improving your game and enjoy texas holdem that much more…winning!
